Amber Rels
Inspired by the cinematic energy of TIFF Lightbox, Amber Reels reinterprets vintage film nostalgia through architectural storytelling. A four-story heritage building merges with a three-story contemporary extension clad in highly reflective panels, creating an illusion of continuity while subtly concealing the new addition. Adjustable reflective screens on selected windows modulate sunlight, enhance privacy, and animate the facade with dynamic reflections throughout the day.

OLD BUILDING PLAN
FUNCTIONAL ANALYSIS
The original building is retained, while three additional floors and an external escape stairwell are added. The basement is removed, and the floor heights are adjusted so that the first and second floors of the north and south wings align.
FLOOR PLAN
The floor plan is organized from public to private. The ground floor includes the lobby, office, and café, while the second floor contains the kitchen, bar, and restaurant with private dining rooms. Guest rooms are located from the third to sixth floors, with a mix of king and twin rooms, and a fitness center on the third floor. The seventh floor is reserved for suites, providing a more private and exclusive experience.

The exploded view reveals the external structure and facade system. Shading panels positioned outside the guest room windows provide solar control and enhance privacy.
